Our Journey

From concept to innovation - the SafeShift story

Problem Identification

Fall 2024

Through conversations with healthcare workers, we identified patient repositioning as a critical challenge causing widespread injuries and affecting care quality. Our engineering team recognized this as an opportunity to make a real impact.

Concept Validation

Winter 2024

Extensive consultation with frontline healthcare staff validated our approach. We learned about workflow requirements, safety concerns, and the specific challenges faced in long-term care facilities across Saskatchewan.

SIGMA Program

Spring 2025

Through the SIGMA program, we explored the potential of our project beyond the classroom and made the decision to pursue it as a business.

Pilot Implementations

Winter 2026

We plan to begin testing our device in healthcare settings, gathering real-world feedback to refine performance and usability.

Commercial Launch

Early 2027

Our goal is to launch the device commercially, partnering with healthcare facilities to bring a safer, more efficient patient repositioning solution across Saskatchewan and beyond.
